The Emperor was the ruler of The Eastern Caverns, and lived for over two thousand years. He is the main antagonist of the third season in Slugterra and the overarching antagonist of Ghoul from Beyond and Return of the Elementals.

Biography

The Emperor was a ruthless, cruel, oppressive ruler, going as far as believing that everyone else lived only to serve him. He ruled China and wanted to find the ancient Elixir of Immortality to continue to do so forever. The only one standing in his way was Yang, an ancient ancestor of Junjie and a skilled archer. During the battle, Yang's skills were no match to the Emperor's dark magic. Yang then escaped and found The Eastern Caverns where he was safe from the tyrant. Eventually the Emperor would hear about this "secret new world" and was enraged at the fact that there was a land he wasn't in control of. He would spend years trying to find it without any luck, until one day when one of the criminals arrested by Yang escaped and found his way to the Surface, revealing the location of the caverns to the Emperor.

At the crossing, Yang and the Emperor would have a final battle, and with Yang's newfound skills, the Emperor would be defeated and take a 18-19 level drop into Dark Water, which would transform him into an even more powerful being and, ironically, give him the immortality he always wanted. However, it came with a price, and took away his humanity. With his new powers, he would create an army of Stone Warriors from the rocks of The Deep Caverns, and try to escape his prison. Yet, the magic of the Guardian Gate above wouldn't allow it.

So, for the next 2000 years, the Emperor waited until he collected enough slugs that would accidentally find their way to the caverns, turning them into ghouls, and would go on to create a sword blaster out of magic to fire them. Eventually, the balance of Slug Energy wasn't powerful enough to hold him and his warriors back, and they were freed. The Shadow Clan and Guardian Slugs fled, but the Emperor would get his hands on a Guardian Boon Doc and ghoul it. He would then go on to face Junjie, and eventually ghoul him with the Goon, which would lead to the Downfall of the Eastern Caverns.

Abilities

• Sorcery - He can shoot bursts of energy or dark fireballs, and summon a shield to protect him from being damaged.
• Immortality - Due to his exposure to the Dark Water of the Deep Caverns he gained his immortality and so have been able to survive for over 2000 years.
• Ghoulgoyle - After the Dark Water mutated him he got the ability to ghoul slugs on his own using raw and pure dark energy, simply through touching them in a similar fashion as Dr. Blakk and the Goon.
• Ghoul Enhancement - In addition to ghouling slugs, he is capable of enhancing a ghoul's power to greater levels due to his knowledge of magic. For example, he managed to empower his Cryptogrif with the ability to convert others into his loyal servant instead of a simple zombie. In addition, he ghouled the Goon with enough energy to the point where it is capable of mind control as opposed to the ability to make people sick like a regular Goon Doc. Furthermore, the amount of dark energy the Emperor used to ghoul the Goon makes it so he can’t be cured by a Boon Doc, and in Return Of The Elementals, he slowly began to die when hit by Doc rather than being cured.

• The Emperor & the Stone Warriors are largely inspired on the first Emperor of China, Emperor Qin & his Terracotta Army (aka Stone Warriors)
• He was originally from The Surface (China).
• He created The Goon, by ghouling a Guardian Boon Doc slug.
• He is the reason why Junjie had to train since he was about 3.
• Dr. Blakk once said he deserves to live in a grander palace as "Emperor". (Light as Day)
• He only called Junjie by his name a few times and called him "Dark Slinger" every other time.
• He was corrupted by Dark Water just like Dr. Blakk, although his transformation was different.
